Water Baptism

News & Events No Comments

Are you looking to take your walk with Jesus deeper by being baptized? On Sunday, June 27, 4:00 PM at McDowell Dam, you will have your chance.  Baptism is a way of telling the world that you identify with Jesus in every respect. When a believer enters the water, he or she is being “buried with [Christ] in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead” (Colossians 2:12).

If would like to be baptized, please sign-up at the Information Center or visit our Contact Us page. There will also be a Potluck Fellowship following the Baptism at Shelter #2.  Chicken, hotdogs, plates, and utensils will be provided.  Please bring a salad or dessert to share, and bring your own beverage. Also, you may want to bring a lawn chair for the Baptism service.

Nothing’s Too Hard for God

News & Events No Comments

Coming this fall in September, we will begin a new series called Nothing’s Too Hard for God. Throughout the series, we will discover how No person is beyond Forgiveness, No form of Loneliness is too overwhelming, No Relationship is too broken, No Illness is too difficult, No Fear is too great, No Financial Need is too large, No Loss is too devastating, and lastly, how No Addiction is too strong.

Through the use of personal testimony, we would like to use real stories from real people at Evangel to illustrate these topics and how God is actively working in the lives of our congregation. If God has ever helped you overcome a difficult circumstance that you would like to share during this 8-week series, please email your stories to Pastor Doug at doug@goevangel.org.

Big Words, Big Truths, Big Deal

News & Events No Comments

Life is a journey that leads to an eternal destination. The question we have to wrestle with is this: Where is my life headed?

We use maps and GPS to assist us when we travel somewhere we’ve never been before. But what is guiding us toward our eternal destination? Maybe a better question is this: Is it possible to know for sure where my life is heading for eternity?

If you ask people about where they think they will go after they die, you will get a number responses. Some people have very little confidence about going to heaven and others are confident that they are NOT going to heaven. And then there are those who feel very confident about going to heaven. But what’s the real answer? How can a person know for sure about their eternal destination? Is it possible to have absolute confidence in going to heaven when you die?

The answer to these questions is going to be the subject of the latest message series at Evangel called, “Big Words, Big Truths, Big Deal.”

Starting in June over the course of five weeks, we are going to look at one of the most incredible chapters in the Bible, Romans 8, and look at what the Bible teaches about salvation. Every religion has its own take on salvation, and even among our many Christian denominations there are different perspectives on salvation. In this upcoming series we are going to look at five major concepts that define what the Bible teaches about salvation.

In this series we are going to look at five Big Words (theological terms) that define five Big Truths about what it means to be a Christian, which is the Biggest Deal in life. And, if there is someone in your life that you have been trying to explain what it means to be “saved” or “born again,” this will be a great series to invite them to. We hope to see you all there!
