Missions
Missions is a very important part of the ministry at Evangel. Evangel supports over 60 missionaries in addition to over 20 missions projects and organizations.
This year we will be sending out three teams of missionaries from the congregation. One from the student ministry, one from the young adults ministry, and one from the general congregation. If you would like more information on any of these trips, please contact the church office.
A third aspect of missions at Evangel is our yearly Missions Convention. Below is information from some of our most recent conventions.
Missions: there is no greater cause or purpose in the world today. From the creation of Adam and Eve when God said, “Be fruitful and increase in number” (Genesis 1:28), the vision of God has been toward an ever-expanding eternal family. And though it’s true that “narrow is the gate that leads to eternal life, and only a few find it” (Matthew 7:14), still, from the beginning, God’s heart has longed for an ever-increasing family. And really, that’s all God has ever wanted: a family. Sent as God’s Son, Jesus gave His life so that more and more people would become “joint heirs with Christ” (Romans 8:17) in this family that will last forever. This is what drives missions; this is what drives missionaries. It is my prayer that this is what will continue to drive the heart and passion of Evangel!
“ . . . that Your ways may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations.
May the peoples praise You, O God; may all the peoples praise You.
May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for You rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth.”
~ Psalm 67:2-4 ~
The importance of missions is seen in all four Gospels. Each writer includes their own version of the Great Commission, Jesus’ final instruction before ascending back to the Father in heaven.
“. . . go and make disciples of all nations . . . .” Matthew 28:19
“. . . go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” Mark 16:15
“And repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in My name to all nations . . . .” Luke 24:47
“. . . As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you.” John 20:21
